On March 20, Texas Music Magazine and Austin Monthly joined forces to throw their annual Bands to Watch Party—this year in a virtual setting presented by Still Austin Whiskey Co. and produced by 3rd & Lamar Media. Celebrating local music, the eight-hour livestream was headlined by Jackie Venson, with additional performances from Beat Root Revival, Deezie Brown, and Sir Woman. All four of the bands were part of Texas Music’s list of Bands to Watch, which appeared in the Spring 2021 digital edition of the magazine (read it here). Hosts Confucius and Fresh from KUTX’s The Breaks kept the audience entertained in between sets and also announced the lucky winner for the Alpine and Marfa vacation giveaway.
