Description
Fort Worth African American Roots Music Festival (FWAAMFest) is the first-ever festival in the nation for early American traditional music that is Black-led and Black-centered. It is a celebration of old-time, jug band, string band, early blues and jazz music produced by Decolonizing the Music Room, a Fort Worth-based nonprofit. The festival was created to sow the seeds of a new music community and bring awareness to blackness in American roots music. FWAAMFest debuted online in 2021. This year the festival brings award-winning artists from around the country together in person for a day of performances, jams, artist conversations and dancing in Fort Worth’s Near Southside cultural district.
