Crossing genres and bringing together the music community for a special evening for mental health awareness, the SIMS Foundation, in partnership with Arlyn Studios, Austin FC and Deep Eddy Vodka, hosts “Music for the Mind” on Thursday, November 12. The virtual fundraising event emceed by Singer/songwriter/producer, former NFL player and mental health advocate Joe Barksdale features pre-recorded musical performances interwoven with personal stories as artists share their connections to mental health. The lineup includes: 5D, And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead, Blackillac, The Bright Light Social Hour, Brownout, Gina Chavez, La Energía Norteña, Ley Line, Max Frost, Mélat, Riders Against the Storm, The Sideshow Tragedy, plus more to be announced. While the annual event ordinarily takes place in person at Arlyn Studios, the new format provides music lovers a rare glimpse inside the intimate showcase and an opportunity to show support for the music industry that has been devastated by the pandemic.
